 Why is Online Texas Poker So Popular? Unless you've been living under a rock in recent years you've no doubt witnessed the surging popularity of poker, particularly Texas hold'em poker or Texas poker as it is known by some. And this explosion has also been witnessed in the online texas poker community. Much of the popularity can be attributed to the fact that poker is very easy to learn how to play. Indeed today's poker stars are as popular as music icons and movie actors. No doubt a huge aspect of the popularity of Texas holdem poker is the fact that most of us can see ourselves as the next big star. "All you need is a chip and a chair", is what they say and a lot of us believe it. We have delusions of grandeur primarily based on how easy it is to play this exciting game. However being good or even great is another story altogether. 
Playing the cards is one thing, playing your opponent is another. Knowing how to "read" another person, to determine whether or not they're bluffing or telling the truth, is half of the skillset. The other half is intentionally not allowing the other players to "read" you. You need to be a good actor. And that's easier said than done for most of us. Understanding each of your opponents' styles, betting patterns, positional play, and personality traits as well as "tells" makes this much more difficult that initially meets the eye. But the best players use all of this information to their advantage. If you really want to complicate matters blindfold them, and gag them, and plug their ears... Because that is what playing online Texas poker is really like! You can't see your opponents faces, nor hear the tone of their voice nor can you speak to them and influence them. Learning how to play pocket jacks in early position with a rock immediately to your left and a loose cannon one seat to his left is challenging at the best of times...but doing it with money, real money, on the line and a timer ticking, and your heart pounding in your ears is another! That's the allure on online Texas poker. Think that's weird? Heck I bet you pay money to get on roller coasters and go to theatres to watch horror flicks!
